On May 17, in celebration of Earth Day, Overpeck Park hosted an event known as EarthFest. Fading Blue had a booth at this event, where the works of its student artists were featured. Organized by Hackensack Riverkeeper, the event featured the works of a student-led art team, Fading Blue.
The booth featured over a dozen original student-drawn paintings, all of which related to the environmental theme both Fading Blue and EarthFest presented. The booth also featured two original coloring sheets that helped to raise awareness, along with an assortment of high quality drawing materials. Postcards featuring student art were also offered to passersby.
The program was attended by over 100 attendees of the EarthFest celebration, many of whom were children. At the booth, they drew on coloring sheets that promoted awareness of environmental issues, while those not interested in coloring could walk around the booth and examine the student artworks.
Overall, participants responded positively to the booth, as many children spent their time at the booth and enjoyed it, as did many adults who admired student artwork. This highlighted how effectively the students could not only connect to their peers and superiors through art, but also the younger generation.
